Check Your Mindset & Trust the Process

So, you have your process, your recipe to success! There is one very important rule you now must follow: trust the process. Simple enough, right? Remember one of the main reasons we create a process is to take away the millions of distractions so we can focus on the simple steps to reach our goal. When we doubt the process, we give our mind permission to wander again. What if I did this instead? What if this doesn’t work? Should I go this direction instead?

That’s why mindset is so important. You must trust the process. Keep your mind on track. A process gives our mind something to focus on when we begin to doubt our ability to reach our goal.

For example, say you are running a race. Below are two mindset examples.

Mindset #1: I’m so tired. The finish line is so far away. I don’t think I can make it. What if I don’t make it? I’ll be such a failure. My legs are so tired and I can’t even see the end, how do I know if I can do it? I can’t do it. This is too hard. I wasn’t made to be a runner.

Mindset #2: I’m so tired. But I can do this. All I must do is put one foot in front of the other. Once I cross that finish line, all the pain will have been worth it. I know I can do it. I’ve been practicing for months. I’m so prepared for this. I may not have been built to be a runner, but I’m making this happen.

Which mindset helps? Which mindset hinders? The answer should be obvious in this example. But in the heat of the moment, it can be a challenge to keep negative thoughts out. It’s easier to be negative than positive. That’s why trusting the process is the glue that holds this process together. Creating a process is useless if you don’t follow and trust it.

Whenever you find yourself doubting that finish line, doubting you can reach your goal, check your mindset. The purpose of the 1–3 daily action steps is to give your mind a map to follow when it begins to wander. When you trust your process, you dedicate all your energy to your daily action steps. When your action steps are complete, you can trust you will always reach or be closer to reaching your goal.

The 3 steps in this article can be applied to absolutely any goal. Find your daily action steps. Assess how much you need to do each day. Then trust your process through the highs and lows. Reassess only when necessary. And share about how it goes!

What does your process look like for your 2022 goal(s)? Please comment below!
